Back to back mounting is used when you want two pieces of hardware literally "back to back." This mounting is more commonly used with pulls than knobs.

Back to Back Mounting, Knobs

"Back to back" mounting for knobs is usually a very simple matter if the knob has no geometric “orientation.” That is, it doesn’t matter which direction the knobs is facing once the mounting is completed.

With orientation	Without orientation

When the knobs have no orientation, a BxB mounting
is accomplished through the use of a piece of
threaded rod which acts as a “headless” screw.

 

If the knob does have an "orientation,"
then bxb mounting for pulls are used (see pulls above).
