Through
bolt mounting

"Through-Bolt"
is the most common type of mounting. In a through-bolt mounting,
a screw is inserted through the surface to which the knob
or pull is affixed into a threaded hole in the base of the
knob or pull.
The screw should be at least 3/16 longer than the
thickness of the surface to which the hardware is mounted,
but no more than 3/8 longer.
If the screw is too short, the hardware cannot be fastened
securely; if it is too long, the hardware will not tighten
down snugly.
Colonial supplies two different length screws with every
piece of hardware 1 for cabinet doors and 1
5/8 for cabinet drawers.
